Raymonda

I'll be there

I'll Be There--Jackson 5

You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back
Where there is love, I'll be there (I'll be there)
I'll reach out my hand to you, I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name and I'll be there (I'll be there)

And oh - I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength, I'll keep holdin' on (holdin' on) (yes I will) yes I will

Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness, well that's all I'm after
Whenever you need me, I'll be there (I'll be there)
I'll be there to protect you (yeah, baby) with an unselfish love I respect you
Just call my name and I'll be there (I'll be there)

And oh, I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength, I'll keep holdin' on
Ooh, ooh, ooh (holdin' on, holdin' on) yes I will

If you should ever find someone new
I know he'd better be good to you
'cause if he doesn't, I'll be there (I'll be there)

Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah
I'll be there, I'll be there (just call my name, I'll be there) I'll be there
(Just look over your shoulders, honey, ooh)

I'll be there, I'll be there, whenever you need me (I'll be there) I'll be there

Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah
I'll be there, I'll be there, (just call my name, I'll be there) I'll be there

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
I'll be there, I'll be there

This morning, when I got up and found that someone like Michael passed away, it's hard to admit that it's a good day today. Though I'm not his super fan, but his "Heal the World" always ranks the top on my favorite music list, and it is only him who can perform with the purity of the music and the heart like this. But I'd rather post another song of his early days "I'll be there" here as a way to mourn for him. When he was young, it was only a begining. However, it just ended so soon and unfornately. Peace in Heaven.

Tonight, Ennio Morricone

It's been long since I had the passion to write something here after I picked up the habit of writing diary, though after all these months, many exciting events I have been to worth writing about, such as the modern opera at the People's Opera House on the 1st anniversary of the wenchuan earthquake, I was quite touched when I saw the young man sitting beside me weeping softly as I did. I realized that not all people are dumb and care about nothing else in their daily life, when I sent the air mail that very day I even met several people who sent the love packages to the chirldren in the earthquake-striken area. How kindhearted they are!

But right now it's not about the other events lingering in my mind, it's the concert held this evening that jumped out of my mind and longed for memorizing.

First of all, thank you so much, Dan. You are so sweet to give me such a great birthday present even though it's not my birthday yet. I enjoyed the concert as much as I enjoyed having you as my friend. Gloria used to mention this concert to me one and a half months ago, but all the cheapest tickets were sold out and I thought it was not my luck to see his presence in the Great Hall of the People until you told me that you bought the tickets for all of us.

Then, let me say something about Ennio Morricone before viewing the concert. Even though I agree to the pretext that film composer is incomparable with real music composers, especially those masteros like Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, or Tchalkovsky, as all those film scores are too short, in similies of illustrations to real paintings, I still insist that since Mozart could compose music for operas and Tchalkovsky is famous for his works for ballets, why not Ennio Morricone have his status high enough for his marvelous works for films? I think nobody in the Hall this evening will agree less with me. His cooperation with Sergio Leone is always mentioned, as his music is inseperable from the two series. But in an interview, he easily put his thoughts this way: even if it's not a western, he would have done exactly the same suitable for the film too! We usually say that it's eaiser said than done, but for him, showing his talents through film score is not that hard either, isn't it? My friend John told me that he used to meet Ennio in the Kodak theatre, and even though John didn't appreicate film score as high as classics, he still told me that Ennio was amiable and admirable. I never expected that one day I could have the luck to see him too, though a little bit too far, at one moment, I felt his influence on me, and even the hall was lighted up by his presence and his repeated bowing.

Ok, it's time to talk about the main content-the concert now. Luckily, after waiting for the rest's arrival, I was still on time when the concert began. Inevitably, the Hall made the concert different from those I've seen before. Even the National Opera House couldn't be compared to this one in the effects and capability. Then, it's the orchestra from Hungary that impressed the audience most. If I didn't hear it wrong, only a little misnote made by the pianoist, all else is perfectly fine. The members are skillful and high-spirited. The trumpet player, the flutist, the violinist and the harpist are amazingly good, though I wished Ennio could have written more part for clarinet. And the soprano in purple, I'm not sure whether she is the one who has sung all the vocal part in Ennio's works, she has good voice, though not heavenly-gifted, she brings the audience to the gate of the Heaven once. What's more, in the second half, there are about 200 chorus members step up on the stage. They sung two of the pieces and they had a funny name called Beijing Holiday Chorus. Admittedly, with over 2000 audiences in the hall, and Ennio personally conducted this concert, it's quite festive to all of us.

At last, let me try to remember the music played in the concert. Unfortunately, there's nothing like brochure, and Ennio didn't say a word from the very beginning to the end either. But if the audience is moviegoers or fans of Ennio Morricone, it was not that difficult to recognize most of the pieces from Once Upone a Time in America, The Legend of 1900, H2S, the Siccilian Clan, Melena, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, La Battaglia di Algeri, Indagine su un cittadino al di sopra di ogni sospetto, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Mission, etc.. There were ovations for three or four times, and the applauses lasted longer than anyone could imagine. After each chapter finished, he turned his back and bowed to the audience, and during the ovation, he came back from the backstage for three times and more! A man who can work freely and look so healthy and energetic is quite an unusual 80-year-old man. Longevity to him and to his works!

I am still in the mood of happiness right now after finishing those above words, but it's quite late and time for bed. If we could have caught the last subway, I would have more time to write down my excitement...

February 17

Love Has No Boundary~

I never expected that "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" would be such a perfect choice to have a good starting for the new year~With all the laughters and tears, I will bury the best memories in heart for long, and I think when I feel low I will see it again to cheer myself up. Please don't wake me up and let me stay a little bit longer in this beautiful dream and let's go to Africa~

Doesn't it sound familiar, "You better treat this lady like a queen because you my friend, you found yourself the perfect women. If I was ever so lucky to find the perfect women I would give her flowers everyday and not just any flowers, okay? Her favorites are orchids, white, and breakfast in bed... six loaves of wheat toast with butter on both sides, no crust. The way she likes it. I'd be her shoulder to cry on and her best friend and I'd spend everyday trying to think of how to make her laugh. She has the most, most amazing laugh. Well that's what I would do if were you." And if you pay a little bit attention that it will also be easier to enjoy yourself with the adapted music and scenes from the dollars triology and I am even reminded of the Lion King somehow... Wow, I have to admit that, no matter what, as it is true with love, anmiation has no boundary~
